Be sure to use a well drained soil medium when planting any Camellia, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, and Azalea as they all prefer fall planting with less watering than you might think. In NC our soil is clay so we prefer to use pine bark soil conditioner when planting these varieties.
Autumn Embers® Encore Azalea
Rhododendron ‘Roblel’ PP16278
Azaleas have been a staple in many gardens--especially in the southern states--unless you garden in full sun. But now, thanks to Buddy Lee, the inventor of the Autumn Encore Azalea, we can enjoy all the versatility and beauty of the azalea in a full-sun setting. All Autumn Encore Azaleas happily grow in full sun and bloom twice a year, spring and fall. Named for its smoldering reddish-orange bloom, Autumn Embers® Encore Azalea is one of the more popular varieties in the Encore series. Its dwarf size makes it well suited for smaller spaces or under sunny windows along a home's foundation. Paired with the deep purple Crimson Fire Loropetalum, you would have one stunning sunny bed!
