Be sure to use a well drained soil medium when planting any Azalea, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, or camellia as they all prefer fall planting with less watering than you might think. In NC our soil is clay so we prefer to use pine bark soil conditioner when planting these varieties.
Autumn Carnation® Encore Azalea
Rhododendron ‘Roblec’ PP15339
Double pink flowers adorn the 'Autumn Carnation' Encore azalea in the spring until the end of fall, while its foliage changes color from a dark green in the summer to a bronzed color in the winter. While it will be just as happy in partial shade, the 'Autumn Carnation®' Encore azalea loves plenty of sun and achieves its best blooms there. Autumn Carnation reaches an intermediate mature size of 4.5 feet, good to fill large spaces.
