Spring Torch Heather
Calluna Vulgaris 'Spring Torch'
Spring Torch Heather is adequately named for its new spring growth that radiates a profuse display of lovely yellow, pink, and flame-like red. As the year progresses into summer, the leaves turn to a rich dark green before transforming into a carpeted piece of art. Plethoras of pale purple flowers erupt from the once flaming ends and flow down the delicate green branches. Lastly in the winter, some of its foliage becomes a golden- bronze exuding purple tones stretching its interest throughout the year rather than just a spring or fall performer. Because of its mounding, upright nature, this evergreen shrub leisurely grows around 2 feet high and 3 feet wide and does beautifully as a groundcover akin to our other heather variants. Perfect for zones 4-7 and pairs nicely with taller more structured companion plants.
