Edgeworthia Chrysantha Paperbush
Edgeworthia chrysantha
The edgeworthia, also called paperbush, is a sturdy yet elegant deciduous shrub well-suited to the heat of the southern states. In spring, summer, and fall, large lance-shaped leaves cover the umbrella-shaped shrub. Once frost hits, the leaves drop, but then the show begins. When everything else is deep in frozen slumber, the paperbush proves generous as small clusters of fragrant yellow blooms cover the plant on naked bronze stems--definitely a surprise in mid-winter.
