Amethyst Falls Wisteria Vine
Wisteria frutescens ‘Amethyst Falls’
Notably regarded for its ability to climb and grow rapidly to a mature height of roughly 10 feet tall and wide, the Amethyst Falls Wisteria can be used in a variety of spaces where its vines can be used effectively to cover fences, walls, or pergolas. This being the American variety, native to eastern North America, they are much easier to control and non invasive than their Asian cousins. What is also neat to note about American and Chinese Wisteria, they twine in a counterclockwise direction as opposed to the Japanese variety. They bloom most heavily in the Spring and sometimes lightly again in the summer with fragrant purple flowers which droop downward on new growth. Hardy in zones 5 to 9, they do well in every setting either sun or shade making this a great option in any landscape and great for beginners or practiced gardeners who want to create an espalier.
