Camellia japonica 'Pink Perfection'

Pink Perfection Camellia delivers extraordinarily refined double flowers in pale shell-pink tones throughout the late-winter-to-spring period, establishing itself as one of the most acclaimed camellia cultivars available. Year-round lustrous deep-green evergreen foliage provides sustained ornamental presence, while mature proportions reaching 8–10 feet in height and 6–8 feet in width establish commanding landscape presence. Its exceptional versatility encompasses accent display, mass plantings, specimen presentation, container cultivation, shaded foundation integration, privacy screening, hedge definition, espalier training, woodland garden composition, border definition, and cut-flower applications. The combination of refined floral character, sustained foliage interest, commanding proportions, and remarkable multi-functional utility establishes it as an exceptional selection for gardeners prioritizing sophisticated ornamental presence and landscape flexibility across diverse applications without demanding specialized cultural protocols.

Pink Perfection Camellia requires well-draining soil conditions and restrained watering practices—excessive moisture retention poses greater establishment risk than periodic drought stress. In clay-predominant soils prevalent throughout many regions, amending planting holes with pine bark or comparable organic soil conditioners substantially improves drainage and root development. This soil preparation methodology proves equally beneficial for companion acid-loving species including rhododendrons, azaleas, and mountain laurels, establishing optimal foundation conditions for sustained plant vigor and reliable performance across diverse landscape applications.

Be sure to use a well drained soil medium when planting any Camellia as they prefer less watering than you might think. In NC our soil is clay so we prefer to use pine bark soil conditioner when planting Camellia, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, and Azalea.
