Be sure to use a well drained soil medium when planting any Camellia, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, and Azalea as they all prefer fall planting with less watering than you might think. In NC our soil is clay so we prefer to use pine bark soil conditioner when planting these varieties.
Autumn Royalty® Encore Azalea
Rhododendron ‘Conlec’
Azaleas have been a staple in many gardens--especially in the southern states--unless you garden in full sun. But now, thanks to Buddy Lee, the inventor of the Autumn Encore Azalea, we can enjoy all the versatility and beauty of the azalea in a full-sun setting. All Autumn Encore Azaleas happily grow in full sun and bloom twice a year, spring and fall. The Autumn Royalty® Encore Azalea is a robust, upright variety of intermediate size with dark green foliage and purple bloom. Voted Azalea of the Year by the American Rhododendron Society, this azalea is perfect to fill a large area with vibrant color.
