Be sure to use a well drained soil medium when planting any Azalea, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, or Camellia as they all prefer fall planting with less watering than you might think. In NC our soil is clay so we prefer to use pine bark soil conditioner when planting these varieties.
Autumn Lilac® Encore Azalea
Rhododendron 'Robles' PP22762
For those who don't love the standard pinks and reds of azaleas, 'Autumn Lilac®' Encore Azalea produces an abundance of exceptionally beautiful, single lavender blooms in spring and fall and occasionally through summer against bright green foliage. 'Autumn Lilac' was bred for cold hardiness and selected for its dwarf and rounded growth habit. One of the few dwarf lavender varieties, 'Autumn Lilac' grows well in a foundation planting or in a grouping.
