Fine Wine® Weigela
Weigela florida 'Bramwell' PP18513
The third out of four members of the Proven Winners Wine Weigela Series is this lovely shrub—Fine Wine Weigela. Larger than the diminutive Spilled Wine Weigela, but smaller and tidier than the Wine and Roses Weigela, Fine Wine is the most uniform member of the series, reaching a mature and very manageable size of three feet tall and wide without pruning. The leaves are smaller than Wine and Roses, giving it a tighter appearance. Like the others in the Wine family, Fine Wine continues to have the dark purple deciduous foliage and pink flowers that pollinators adore. Lightly shearing after blooming can promote a second bloom. Like all weigelas, Fine Wine is deciduous, so try planting with evergreens for balance in the winter. The dark purple foliage contrasts exceptionally well with yellows and whites, such as Double Play Gold Spirea or Angelina sedum.
