Gibraltar Azalea stands out from the crowd with large clusters of bright orange flowers tinged with yellow. The blooms are single, open-funnel-shaped with frilly edges and appear in mid-spring at the ends of the branches. Upright medium growth plants has dark green leaves with a slightly red tint. In fall the leaves put on a show in shades of yellow, orange and red. Great for the woodland garden or foundation plantings, the Gibraltar Azalea is sure to create a focal point within your yard.

Joseph's Take

I especially enjoy waiting for the deciduous azaleas to bloom in spring. It seems like it take a minute as the buds build slowly but when they finally open, it's pretty sweet. I usually plant any deciduous azalea where I can keep an eye on them, near the garage or front door are great locations for me. All deciduous azaleas are extremely low maintenance, they just need afternoon shade.
