 Illicium parviflorum 'Florida Sunshine'

Do you have a shady yard and think all you can plant is azaleas? Think again--shade gardening doesn't need to be boring and monotonous. The key to an interesting shade garden is using unique textures or contrasting colors that stand out in low light. Florida Sunshine Anise provides an excellent ray of glowing lime-green light in a dark garden. Reaching a mature height of 6' feet slowly, Florida Sunshine Anise with its bright lime foliage contrasts well when planted behind smaller evergreens. When broken, leaves smell strongly of anise. Can be used as a vibrant hedge or single specimen.

Joseph's Take

We've done great growing the Florida Sunshine Anise. I prefer to plant this one in deep shade. They do like water and well drained soil. Anise is cold weather sensitive so if you live in a a northern state your Anise will look great in a pot on the deck if you plan to bring it in during the winter months.

Anise smells like licorise when the leaf is torn.
