Be sure to use a well drained soil medium when planting any Camellia as they prefer less watering than you might think. In NC our soil is clay so we prefer to use pine bark soil conditioner when planting Camellia, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, and Azalea.
Chandleri Elegans Camellia
Camellia japonica 'Chandleri Elegans'
Looking to bring elegance and a higher standard of taste to your garden? The Chandelri Elegans does just that. Like most camellia japonica, the Chandleri Elegans blooms during the winter and early spring. What sets this camellia apart is its elegant rose pink blooms surrounding a white peony center. Growing up to nine feet tall and six feet wide, this luxurious camellia has many purposes and is a great collectors addition.
Be sure to use pine bark soil conditioner as your planting medium when installing camellias as they prefer well drained soil during the first couple of years. They’re roots do not like to remain excessively wet.
