Japanses Maples are easy to grow in a sunny spot with space to spread out. A little dappled shade in the afternoon is a good idea in warmer states as the leaves can be stressed in the hottest months of the year.
Winter Red Japanese Maple 3-4ft
Acer palmatum 'Winter Red'
Winter Red Japanese Maple is similar to Coral Bark in that it starts out with green leaves in spring which transition to a bright yellow during the warmer months and then pale orange with red edges during the fall. In wintertime Winter Red's bark becomes bright red as opposed to a coral reddish color. Both grow to similar size although Winter Red can handle the southern heat better than Coral Bark. Both trees are amazing collectors may want to get one of each to compare the differences.
Our Japanese Maples are sold in 2 or 3 gallon pots. They are larger and more mature than a typical one gallon specimen. Since all Japanese Maples are generally slow growing, it is advised to choose a more mature plant when installing into your landscape. If you would like a current photo of any specimen, please send us an email.
