Little Lime Punch Hydrangea
Hydrangea paniculata 'SMNHPH' USPP33,207
Ok, we know what you’re saying: Limelight hydrangea got an update in Limelight Prime, what about Little Lime!? I mean, fair is fair! Nursery growers heard your cries for justice and viola! Little Lime Punch! This hydrangea may be named for the visual impact you viscerally feel as the panicle blooms slowly transition from lime…to white…to deep pink, with all shades featured at the same time on the plant! Or maybe the name popped into a nursery-person’s head when she was attending her 4-year-old nephew’s birthday party. Amidst the gleeful squeals of the bounce house, disaster was looming: one of the toddler attendees decides to try his hand at serving the drinks and suddenly his white t-shirt is awash in pink kool-aid. Yes that must have been the inspiration for the name. Whatever the scenario, you can bypass the noise and mess of toddlers and still have a yard party with Little Lime Punch. It is a ‘super dwarf’ version of Little Lime featuring super strong stems that stand up to heavy rains. Plant at the front of a border or en masse. Looks great among evergreens or with other bloomers like drift rose or pugster butterfly bush.
