Rhaphiolepis indica

The Rhaphiolepis, Indian Hawthorne, Oriental Pearl is hardy to a very wide range of conditions. Tolerates strong winds, heat, drought, frost, coastal conditions, adaptable to most soils, and low water use. Huge, clear white bloom clusters are powerfully produced in spring with prominent pink stamens. The attractive glossy foliage is dark green in color and contrasts well with the massed display of flowers. The Oriental Pearl reaches a mature height and width of 3 to 4 feet. Uses range from formal to informal hedges, coastal garden, placed near salt water pool, mass planting, container, pots, ground cover, border along walkway, and low hedge.

Joseph's Take

Joseph's Take

We currently have three Indian Hawthorne, Elenor Taber is the pink bloomer. Oriental Pearl and Snow Cap are white but Snow Cap's leaves turn red in winter and it can handle colder weather. I like Snow Cap the best but have been known to use Elenor Taber if Im looking for pink.
