Ginger Wine® Ninebark
Physocarpus opulifolius 'SMNPOBLR' USPP 28,695
Native plant enthusiasts will enjoy this new offering from Proven Winners. The Ginger Wine® Ninebark is a member of the Physocarpus family and is native to the river banks, gravel bars, and other moist areas of Missouri, making it well suited to damp areas in full sun. It has an upright, spreading growth habit best situated at the back of an informal planting bed or cottage garden. New spring foliage is a lovely orange, contrasting with older dark burgundy foliage, and in the spring, pink blooms adorn arching branches. In the winter when its leaves fall, attractive exfoliating bark is revealed, creating great winter interest. In the landscape, pair with the light green foliage of lemon-lime nandina or the cool blue or a spruce for great impact. Best in cooler climates, as fungus can be an issue in the south. Truly a multi-season stunner!
