Camellia sasanqua 'Yume'

Sometimes simple is better. 'Yume' is actually a hybrid between a japonica and a sasanqua, enabling it to bloom from November into February, with flowers seen to be hardy to 26 degrees Fahrenheit! Single form bloom composed of heart shaped petals with blush pink center dusting is slightly fragrant and sweetly simple. This variety of camellia is somewhat smaller at maturity, reaching 5' by 5' in seven years. Heavy bloomer and excellent subject to espalier.

Be sure to use a well drained soil medium when planting any Camellia as they prefer less watering than you might think. In NC our soil is clay so we prefer to use pine bark soil conditioner when planting Camellia, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, and Azalea.
