Kalmia latifolia 'Olympic Fire'

If you like Tiddlywinks Mountain Laurel, but need something a little larger, look to Olympic Fire Mountain Laurel. Similar bloom to Tiddlywinks (dark pink buds, opening to light pink flowers), but in a bigger package, maturing to 5 feet tall and wide. A good choice for a screen or accent in shade to partial sun.

Be sure to use a well drained soil medium when planting any Mountain Laurel as they prefer fall planting with less watering than you might think. In NC our soil is clay so we prefer to use pine bark soil conditioner when planting Camellia, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, and Azalea.
