Whipcord Arborvitae
Thuja plicata 'Whipcord'
Looking at the Whipcord arborvitae, you may not guess that it is derived from the Western Red Cedar, a giant forest tree. But from that tree, creative plant masters have brought us a unique, medium-sized, evergreen shrub with gracefully arching foliage which is glossy green in summer, turning slightly bronze in winter. Whipcord would look right at home in a rock garden, or as a specimen plant.
