Camellia japonica  'Grace Albritton'

Grace Albritton Camellia develops an upright form reaching 8 feet, delivering elegant spring blooms during early-to-mid season. This cultivar thrives in well-draining soil and prefers moderate moisture—less frequent watering than many gardeners anticipate. In clay-based soils, incorporating pine bark soil conditioner at planting significantly improves drainage and creates ideal conditions for Camellias and companion acid-loving plants like Rhododendrons, Mountain Laurels, and Azaleas. Proper soil preparation ensures optimal establishment and long-term performance.

Be sure to use a well drained soil medium when planting any Camellia as they prefer less watering than you might think. In NC our soil is clay so we prefer to use pine bark soil conditioner when planting Camellia, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, and Azalea.
