Hydrangea quercifolia 'Ruby Slippers'

The 'Ruby Slippers' Hydrangea is one of the oak leaf beauties. White blooms gently fade to a beautiful vintage pink color. Fall changes the oak leaves to a dazzling mahogany show of color for your landscape. This plant works well as hedges, borders, or as an addition to your cutting garden. The blooms appear on old growth, this makes late fall the best time for pruning.

Joseph's Take

Joseph's Take

Actually, I love all Hydrangeas. I love their blooms and their leaves and I love to propagate them from cutting in soil done easily in winter with a little protection. Both Ruby Slippers and Munchkin have beautiful white Oakleaf type flowers and they do darken through the season. Hydrangeas are water hungry when they are producing flowers, the overlooked fall leaf changes are often overlooked, a beautiful red!
