Camellia japonica 'April Dawn'

'April Dawn' camellia has numerous large, formal double flowers winter through spring, and the bloom color can vary, from white with pink streaks, to solid pink, and every combination in between.  In peak bloom, the abundance of buds and flowers almost hide its deep green foliage. 'April Dawn' reaches a mature height of 4 to 6 feet and a mature width of 3 to 5 feet. Unlike many camellias, those in the 'April' series can handle colder zone 6 winter temperatures.

Be sure to use a well drained soil medium when planting any Camellia as they prefer less watering than you might think. In NC our soil is clay so we prefer to use pine bark soil conditioner when planting Camellia, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, and Azalea.
