Camellia X 'Yoi Machi'

Supposedly, in Japanese 'Yoi Machi' means 'good town'. I guess that means that maybe this plant will bring blessings to your surroundings. 'Yoi Machi' is an early to mid-season hybrid with cold tolerance to zone 7. As late fall passes and spring approaches, this sasanqua hybrid is covered in an abundance of small white buds accented with pink margins. Bloom lasts from late fall into spring. Unlike many camellias, 'Yoi Machi' is smaller in scale, reaching a mature size between 4 to 6 feet tall and wide, with upright, vigorous, columnar growth. Consider situating this camellia at the corner of a house or as a focal point in a medium-sized shade bed. Good for tighter, narrower spaces, or as a centerpiece in a large container.

Be sure to use a well drained soil medium when planting any Camellia as they prefer less watering than you might think. In NC our soil is clay so we prefer to use pine bark soil conditioner when planting Camellia, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, and Azalea.
