Joseph's Take

Joseph's Take

PJM is perfect for planting in a informal mass planting among a grouping of especially azaleas. PJM has smaller leaves than most Rhodies and blooms much earlier, even a little earlier than most azalea. So, mixed in, PMJ will get things started off by blooming just before the azaleas, very nice. Please be sure to use soil conditioner as with any other Rhododendron, plant in fall, higher than normal and water only in the morning.

Be sure to use a well drained soil medium when planting any Rhododendron as they prefer fall planting with less watering than you might think. In NC our soil is clay so we prefer to use pine bark soil conditioner when planting Camellia, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, and Azalea.
