Be sure to use a well drained soil medium when planting any Camellia as they prefer fall planting with less watering than you might think. In NC our soil is clay so we prefer to use pine bark soil conditioner when planting Camellia, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, and Azalea.
Pink Serenade Camellia
Camellia sasanqua 'Pink Serenade'
One of the early blooming camellias, the Pink Serenade Camellia is an easy care large shrub. Striking in a mass planting, this plant produces pink single blooms in large amounts from fall to early winter. Small to medium sized blooms make up for size by heavily flowering. Like most camellias, it will benefit most from a bit of shelter from the wind and hot sun, since buds and leaves are susceptible to the extreme elements.
