Pink A Boo Deciduous Azalea
Rhododendron 'Pink A Boo'
Sometimes plant names (like paint color names) come along and you think---really? I mean, is that ALL they could think of? Take the Pink-A-Boo Azalea, for instance. It’s a lovely plant with a goofy name that makes you wonder: was the one in charge of naming this plant longing for Halloween? Or the kid was hiding and popped out and said “Pink-A-Boo!” and the parent was like, “Sure, let’s go with that.” Whatever the case, the Pink-A-Boo Azalea is a very cool deciduous azalea to consider adding to the landscape. It’s happy in zones 5-8, and grows to around 3 ½ feet tall and wide (how tidy!). Its blooms emerge before the leaves in mid to late spring and last through mid-season. Its light fragrance is a boon for people and pollinators alike! And fashionistas avert your judgmental gaze---the color combo of pink petals with an orange throat might clash in clothing but not in plants, so coordination be damned! Shade to part shade, deciduous.
