Hibiscus syriacus 'Rwoods5' USPP 29,683

This heavy blooming variety of Rose of Sharon produces double bright magenta flowers from late spring to frost. Magenta Chiffon® grows to a height of 10 feet, but can be pruned back to create a more full plant. A hardy plant, tolerating heat and humidity, also adds interest by attracting hummingbirds and butterflies while deterring deer. This shrub is sold in a 3 gallon Proven Winners container.

Joseph's Take

Joseph's Take

Growing up my grandmother has lots of Rose of Sharon as these were called back then. They were heavy in the seed category therefore spreading all over the yard. These new refined Rose of Sharon do not spread in the invasive way that old varieties did. Plus, the flowers are much prettier, longer lasting, and are re-blooming. I'm now using these plants in some of my landscapes for their summer blooms. Very nice!
