One reviewer describes the blooms of the ‘Lavender Chiffon’ Hibiscus as “lovely blossoms like Vera Wang wedding gowns. Enchanting!” We love this hibiscus too, especially with its striking lavender flowers. Plan for this sun-loving shrub to have some room, as it can reach heights of 12 feet and widths of 8 feet! Imagine something of that size in full bloom! Consider surrounding ‘Lavender Chiffon’ Hibiscus with drifts of evergreen shrubs such as ‘Autumn Twist’ Encore Azalea or ‘Cerise Charm’ Loropetalum for a colorful series of bloom. Dark green deciduous foliage. Sets little to no seed, so easy to maintain. An excellent plant for the mixed border or used as a specimen plant.

Joseph's Take

Growing up my grandmother has lots of Rose of Sharon as these were called back then. They were heavy in the seed category therefore spreading all over the yard. These new refined Rose of Sharon do not spread in the invasive way that old varieties did. Plus, the flowers are much prettier and have more interest. I'm now using these plants in some of my landscapes for their summer blooms. Very nice!
