Kramer's Red Heather
Erica x darleyensis 'Kramer's Red'
A tremendous groundcover statement piece with plenty of purpose and rewarding characteristics, the award winning Kramer’s Red Heather features the familiar pronounced bushy, upright habit. Lovely magenta flowers radiate off the textured evergreen foliage. Its compact nature is great at smothering weeds and when used as a mass planting, you will be greeted by a sea of magenta flowers from winter to spring. Its temperament is limited to zones 5 through 7 but don’t let it discourage you from making it a container or specimen plant if you are further south. It does best in full sun in the aforementioned areas and likes well drained soils. Known to reach up to around 1.5 feet tall by 2 feet wide, it requires little care besides regular watering until established. Landscaping applications may include usage in rock gardens, across slopes, or as ground covers along paths.
Heathers add much color when mixing several varieties and planting them together in the landscape. Companion plants are below or just do a search for heather above.
