Hydrangea macrophylla 'Hokomarevo' Plant Patent #22,260

The Everlasting™ Revolution Hydrangea is a magical display of colorful blooms on sturdy upright stems. Blooming on old and new wood, this shrub is heavy with blooms from spring to early fall. Exquisite long lasting flowers contain a magical color combinations of pink and blue with green hues as they age. Makes an amazing cut flower to fill your house with summer color.

Everlasting™ is a Dutch series, and it was originally bred for the cut-flower market, so the emphasis is entirely on the blooms. The flower stems are stronger and straighter than those of many other hydrangeas, ensuring that the blooms won’t flop or twist. The flowers are ultra long-lasting and quite large, especially when seen on the plant, which is just 3 to 4 feet high and wide.

Joseph's Take

Joseph's Take

For a very long time hydrangeas have been one of my personal favorite plants. I love the leaf texture and the flowers of course. Most people dont know, but hydrangeas usually have amazing fall leaf color and texture either yellow or red before falling off for the winter. During the growing season they love to be watered, so don't hesitate to put on your flip flops on a hot day and give the hydrangea a drink. This fall, I will try to get some photos of their super cool leaves.

Shade hydrangeas prefer moist soil and regular watering during the growing season. For most, in order to obtain the blue flower color, apply 2 tablespoons of aluminum sulfate near the base of the plant. A rusty nail or coffee grounds will also increase the acidity of the soil which makes the flowers turn blue.
