Gardenia jasminoides 'Chuck Hayes'

Warming up to gardening just like the weather? Try your hand at gardenias with this highly temperature tolerant shrub which grows best in zones 8-10. Much like our other Gardenia jasminoides, more commonly known as cape jasmine, the Chuck Hayes Gardenia, native to China and Japan, features the same profuse white blooming character and formal appeal with a smaller form factor which makes it perfect for low hedges growing around 3 ft all around, container shrubs like a raised bed to bring its blooms closer to enjoy, or beautifully just as a specimen plant for show. From its thick, spear shaped, deep emerald leaves to its highly fragrant, double bloom, alabaster flowers, your attention will be entranced by its wondrous appeal. Be sure to plant out of complete direct sunlight in partial shade to really let this shrub show you its best self. Another tip is to cut off faded flowers to encourage it to bloom again and also pruning during the late fall-early winter when it is dormant to promote a full, compact appearance for a happy, healthy shrub.

Chuck Hayes will begin shipping on February 10, 2022.
