Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Blue Surprise'

Native to the West Coast of the United States, the lawson cypress was introduced to Britain in the mid 1800’s and is now one of their most popular conifers because of its many ornamental cultivars. The ‘Blue Surprise’ Lawson Cypress exaggerates beautifully blue-dusted foliage that coats its spiraling upright habit. You would expect it to have the cypress appeal with their grouped scale-like leaves that form flat planes, but this particular cultivar protrudes fine needle-like leaves from its branches creating a more intimidating cuspidated attraction. It is very hardy growing in zones 6-9. The lovely spire shape will present itself magnificently in any garden space maintaining its slender shape. Be sure to plant it in a location with good drainage and provide constant moisture to yield its best results.
