Sambucus nigra 'Eva' USPP 15,575

Known for its intense dark purple foliage especially in colder climates, the Black Lace Elderberry is becoming a standard in place of more high maintenance plants because of its adaptability. Capable of withstanding the blistering cold of the northern states in zones 5 and moderate heat through zones 7, its upright mounding nature creates a nice bushy appearance reaching a mature height of up to 8 feet and width of 8 feet. Apart from its dark appearance, during the summer bright clusters of pink and white appear throughout the shrub creating a lovely contrast against the dark purple foliage. Responding best to pruning after blooming as the winter season begins to set in, they drop their leaves in the fall and set in for the cold months ahead. Being deciduous, its graceful and laced appeal returns every year to bring lasting impact and character to your garden.
