'April Melody' is a camellia of moderate growth rate that bears small, single red blooms from winter to spring. This variety is a strong grower and very cold hardy in zone 6. It reaches a mature size of 8-10 feet tall and 6-8 feet wide, making it suitable to plant at the back of a large shade bed or as a screen.

Joseph's Take

Joseph's Take

April Melody is a moderate grower, flowers are a bit smaller than some but its color is amazing. It is another zone 6 Camellia so its more cold hardy in the northern states.

Be sure to use a well drained soil medium when planting any Camellia as they prefer fall planting with less watering than you might think. In NC our soil is clay so we prefer to use pine bark soil conditioner when planting Camellia, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, and Azalea.
